Scholarships



Etowah Chamber members and any employee of a member of the Etowah Chamber is eligible for scholarships through Gadsden State Community College and Jacksonville State University. Whether a small business has 5 employees or over 100, these scholarships may be offered as additional incentives or benefits to employees. Academic based scholarships are listed below as courtesy of members of the chamber. Buy One, Get One Free Scholarship
Description: Gadsden State Community College and the Etowah Chamber have entered a partnership that includes the College providing educational opportunities for qualified employees of the chamber as well as their membership. The BOGO Scholarship provides tuition for a free course for each paid course at Gadsden State during the Fall semester.

20% Tuition Scholarship at JSU
Description: Jacksonville State University and the Etowah Chamber have entered a partnership that includes the College providing educational opportunities for qualified employees of the chamber as well as their membership. The 20% tuition discount scholarship provides 20% off of tuition at Jacksonville State University during the Fall or Spring semester.

Alabama Teachers Credit Union
$3,000 scholarships
Description: Alabama Teachers Credit Union offers four (4) $3000 scholarships to high school seniors, three (3) $3000 scholarships to deserving college undergraduates, and one (1) $3000 scholarship in memoriam of ATCU employee Leta Henson Johnson.

Description: The Civilian Marksmanship Program is proud to provide this scholarship program for deserving high school seniors who excel in marksmanship! The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) offers $1,000, one-year scholarship assistance to qualified junior marksmen in order to encourage and reward their outstanding efforts.

C.V. Glassco $1,000 Memorial Scholarships
Description: Scholarships are available to any graduating high school senior. Merit Scholarships will be awarded based on the extent and quality of a student’s overall high school performance. Selections of recipients will focus on a strong academic record with emphasis on extracurricular involvement, leadership experience and community service.

  GADSDEN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Volunteer Scholarship
Description: Gadsden Regional Medical Center Volunteers are now accepting applications for their annual scholarship. This scholarship was established to benefit students in our community who are pursuing degrees in the medical field. The scholarships will be awarded to four students for the amount of $500 per semester for the 2019-2020 academic year. Fields of study may include nursing, phlebotomy, radiologic technology, and others. Preference will be given to students from Etowah County who demonstrate financial need. Students must complete the GRMC Volunteer Scholarship Application and submit a copy of their transcript. In addition, an essay describing the student's career goals and two letters of recommendation are required.

Graduating High School Student Scholarship
Description: Gadsden State offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors. These include Academic, Ambassador, HBCU Minority, Health Sciences, Honors, and Technical Scholarships. Athletic and Performing Arts Scholarships are by tryout and audition only. The student must enroll in the college and create a NextGen account.

General Scholarship for Current College Students
Description: Gadsden State offers scholarships for current college students only. Scholarships are awarded based on fund availability. Scholarship recipients are notified by award letter only. Private scholarship funds are applied to student accounts through the College Business Office 256-549-8214 or 256-549-8216.

Description: In addition to the Financial Aid programs, students may be able to obtain assistance in the form of scholarships granted based on academic or technical achievements, participation in extracurricular and leadership activities and exhibited talents of the fine arts or athletics. Scholarships are available to current Gadsden State students as well as graduating high school seniors.

Description: Chamber of Gadsden/Etowah County members and their employees are eligible for a 20% Corporate Tuition Scholarship at JSU and an application fee waiver, for an additional $35 in savings! This scholarship may not be combined with any other institutional aid, discounts, or special package pricing.

Kiwanis Club of Gadsden Foundation Scholarships
Description: The Kiwanis Club of Gadsden offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors starting college.  Applications are accepted that have a postmark on or before February 28th each year. The Scholarship Committee reviews all the applications and awards the scholarships based on specific guidelines in March or April. Kiwanis offers scholarships ranging from $750 to $1,250. We distribute approximately $14,500 annually.

NAIFA–Alabama (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of Alabama) 
Image Builders Scholarship
Description: The Image Builders Scholarship was created by the NAIFA–Alabama (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of Alabama) Board of Directors to provide a higher education scholarship to an undergraduate student who demonstrates exceptional academic performance and/or significant financial need. Eligible students may not be receiving a full-tuition scholarship or waiver from another source.
Scholarship Application Deadline is March 4 of current school year.

Quality of Life Health Services
Description: Quality of Life Health Services offers scholarships to deserving high school seniors in their service areas. Applicants must include a reference letter from a Quality of Life employee, two character letters from civic or community leaders, a resume, and a 200-word essay. Details are available in the scholarship application.  
 
Roger Boatner and Family
Two scholarships are available for students attending Mississippi State University and majoring in accounting. The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance and financial need. Awarded annually through Mississippi State University.
 
Snead State Community College 
Description: Snead State Community College is offering two scholarship opportunities available through the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways for two high-demand career fields, the Industrial Systems Technology Scholarship and the Welding Career Track Scholarship. $3,000 Scholarship
Description: The Southern Bank offers a $3,000 scholarship to a student in Etowah, Cherokee or Marshall Counties. Students must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA and submit an essay. Deadline is April 1st of current school year.

$1,000 Scholarship
Description: WinsSouth Credit Union offers seven (7) separate $1,000 cash scholarships. Applicant or parent of the applicant must be a member of the Credit Union to be eligible. Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Deadline is April 10 of current school year.
