Amanda Summers

Alabama Power Company

Amanda is a Distribution Engineer in the Gadsden office. She started in 2021 and has covered two territories since starting. In addition to her commercial and residential customers, she has worked on several major projects such as line relocations, reliability, restring upgrades, and storm restoration. She also helps with employee development in her local office. 


Amanda began with Alabama Power in 2019 as a distribution co-op in Anniston. She did two semester rotations in Anniston and a third semester in the Metro Central office. 

After graduating high school in Gadsden, Amanda attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham on a golf scholarship. She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Economics with minors in Marketing and Management. After graduation, she received a full-time position as an Assistant Manager of a retail store in Birmingham. In 2017, she decided to go back to UAB and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2021. 

Amanda has participated in several leadership opportunities since starting her career. She is the current chair of the Eastern Division Council on Culture and Inclusion Committee, where she has been the lead on a career development project. She is also active within the UAB Campus Recruiting Team, Auburn’s Engineering Academic Excellence Program, and a is a PD Mentor Action Team Leader. Amanda was selected by management to participate in the 2023 Women in Power Delivery program. 

She currently lives in Gadsden with her husband, Neil, and son, Charlie. She also has two dogs, Reba, Waylon, and two cats, Greta and Sue.  Amanda still enjoys playing golf and being outdoors anytime with her family.
