Nanda Patel was born in Kenya and raised in England. She migrated to the United States in 1981. She has lived in Chicago, Detroit, Gadsden and Birmingham. She received her Diploma of Radiologist Technologists from Middlesex Hospital in London, England. She also received her BA in Health Administration and her MA in Health Education from UAB. Mrs. Patel also received her Leadership and Hospitality Certification from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). She takes an active role in regional tourism and economic development. Mrs. Patel is also very active in and serving the community. She serves on several active boards such as: The Chamber, Gadsden/Etowah County, Etowah County Industrial Development, Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts, Alabama Mountain Lakes Association and the Walnut Gallery. She is also an Executive Board Member of the United Way of Etowah County, Etowah County Tourism Board and the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation. Mrs. Patel also services as a Committee Member of the People’s Committee at InterContinental Hotels Group and is one of the five owners of the IHG brand. She is also a member of: The Business Council of Alabama, the Rotary Club of Gadsden, The Chamber, the Mary G. Hardin Center of Cultural Arts and AMLA. Mrs. Patel met her husband, Dr. Ghanshyam Patel, an interventional cardiologist for 37 years, in London where they married. They have two children, Dr. Ajanta Patel Kothari who is a pulmonary fellow of pediatrics at University of Chicago and Dr. Anuj Patel, a resident doctor of Orthopedics at Emory University Medical Center. |
